Motherwell Tank Protection is part of the Storage Tank Solution’s group of companies which is one of the UK’s leading breather valve manufacturers including tank fittings and level gauging equipment. The companies headquarters are in St Helens, England where all of the equipment, systems design and manufacture are carried out. Motherwell Tank Gauging have made their name for quality and reliability and have progressed by customer recommendation and by repeat orders.

Company History

MTP can trace  it’s roots back to the year 1859 when the Bold Iron Works was established by William Neill & Son Ltd in St Helens, England. The company specialised in equipment for Chemical Factories and later for Oil Storage Installations and Oil Refineries. Under the name of Niel Varec, the company manufactured tank level measuring devices, pressure relief valves and other tank instruments and fittings. The Company later joined the Capper-Neill Group who specialised as a breather valve manufacters before experiencing a further change of name in 1984 to Motherwell Control Systems Limited, part of the Motherwell Bridge Group, in 2003 the company was subject to a management buyout and in 2008 Motherwell tank protection was formed specialise as a breather valve manufacturer and service the tank fittings Industry.

Our product range today still includes replacements for many of the products previously supplied under names such as Neill Varec, Wm. Neill & Sons & Motherwell Control Systems
